Biblical Sources…
If there is any standing word in life, to this date, it’s the bible. The complete one that is. Very few bibles I can find, personal, contain everything you need. That would be both the Tanakh and B’rit Hadashah. I came into possession of a “Complete Jewish Bible” by D
avid H. Stern. Normally I read from a 1611 version of the King James translation, due to being able to read it and understand more clearly than any modern translation. This one however, is worth it’s price tag. I bought one that was leather bound, mainly because leather is always a better binding. Feels and looks better and doesn’t wear out as easily. The bible itself is well written out and in complete English, to a point. As you can guess, it uses the Hebrew words for everything (e.g.Tanakh/Yeshua ) throughout the bible, which may be confusing to Christians who don’t know any Hebrew. Every letter though is in Latin, and spelled out in English. I cannot say it isn’t worth the money though. It is a straight, one man translation from the original Hebrew and Greek scriptures that were written. But like any translation, it is basically the same. Any Messianic Jew or Christian who knows a bit about their faith, where everything goes, how everything is done etc, would fit well to be reading from it. An example excerpt, Proverbs 18:10:
NKJV: The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.
CJB: The name of Adonai is a strong tower;
a righteous person runs to it and is raised high [above danger].
As you can see, there is very little that is changed. Unlike most translations, this one does not feel crammed, each sentence is well spaced from the one above it or the one below it. I am yet to face any issues with it. Although as a note, make sure to buy one that was printed as close to the year your buying it on, as some have typographical errors which can put you off it. A revised edition closest to the year is always a good choice. And keep in mind it is a one man translation, which means there can and probably will be, errors that shouldn’t be. But this should be expected.
